Zurich and its catchment area offer a top-quality range of international cuisine. There are just as many traditional restaurants offering local and European cuisine as there are trendy places preparing culinary delicacies from all over the world, although the latter are much more numerous in the city. A typical local dish would be "Zürcher Geschnetzeltes", veal strips cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce and served with "Rösti" (coarsely grated and fried potatoes, and it all looks a bit like Spanish tortilla). Most kitchens serve food until 22.00hrs.
