Generally before moving into an apartment or house, a security deposit is requested in the amount of 2 to 3 months' rent. This will normally be paid into a secured deposit account under the name of the tenant. Deposit payments are due prior to the property handover. When moving out, this deposit is refunded and the charges for any damages caused by the tenant during the rental period will be deducted, on agreement of both parties. Another option is to secure the deposit in the form of a guarantee for which the renter pays an annual premium depending on the rental fee. This is one provider of such guarantees: SwissCaution
However, many tenants prefer the more traditional secured deposit account with the bank.
