Speaking German will be immensely helpful in understanding German-speaking Swiss and their culture. And it will make it easier to get to know people.

For third-country nationals holding a residence (B) or settlement (C) permit in Switzerland:
the joining spouse needs to provide proof of a German certificate level A1 or prove enrolment in a German language course in Switzerland, when applying for the permit.
